What is the Brisbane SUPER Holiday Music Camp?

A full-day (9am - 4pm) non-residential music camp with rehearsals for THREE days (June 26-28th)  culminating in a Finale Concert on the final evening.

The camp is run by TRYO conductor Tim Gray and the team at Timmelle Music.

What music will we get to play?

The theme for this camp is SUPERHEROES, so we will be enjoying some of the most epic and iconic music written for supers including Ant-Man, Wonder Woman, Batman,  The Incredibles, and even John Williams' stirring Superman theme.

Who can attend?

All young musicians between ages 12 and 24 that meet the minimum skill level requirements below.

Do I have to be a TRYO member?

Not at all! Any musician can join in the fun!

TRYO is based in Toowoomba and our last 5 Summer camps have been a hit so we thought we'd bring our fun camps to Brisbane this winter for more to enjoy.

What instruments can play in the camp?

Any orchestral or band instruments including:

Strings:

Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass & Harp (must have your own harp or can access one).

Winds:

Piccolo, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone

Brass:

Trumpets, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, French Horn, Tuba

Percussion:

Tuned & Untuned Percussion, Drumkit (must be able to read full charts)

Limited places are available for percussion.

Acoustic, Electric Bass Guitar and Piano are also welcome, but can only be listed as a 2nd instrument.

Have an instrument that isn't listed but you'd love to join in?

Just get in touch to ask if your instrument can be catered for.

What if I play two instruments?

Players can list a second instrument or more on the registration form.

This is especially helpful for us to know if, for example,  a violinist might be willing to play viola.

Instruments such as piano and acoustic/electric guitar don't usually have enough parts to list them as a main instrument but you can list them as a second or third instrument should we require someone to play that part.

What level do you need to be? Is there an audition?

NO, there is no audition required!

The camp will cater for all early intermediate to advanced musicians.

All players will be together in a Full Symphony Orchestra.

Check with your teacher if you're not sure of your level.

Level Requirements:

Minimum Grade 3 AMEB level

+ Grade 5+ AMEB is required for 1st parts and solos.

IMPORTANT: Very good ability in sight-reading is highly recommended for this short intensive camp.

Where is it being held?

The camp will be held at the Old Museum Building, 480 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills.

The Friday night concert will also be held there.

Who can attend the Finale Concert and how do we book tickets?

The concert will be open to the public and will be held on the evening of the final day.

Friday @ 6:30pm

Tickets are $18 each and will be available shortly before the camp starts.

What is the cost of the camp?

Early Bird Price | $275 per player

After 13th May | $325 per player

An invoice will be issued once the online registration form has been submitted and processed by our team.

IMPORTANT: The fees are NOT REFUNDABLE.

Partial credit towards future TRYO camps may be given in the event a camper is unable to begin the camp due to illness. (A medical certificate may be required)

In the case that the camp can not go ahead on the advertised dates, we will reschedule the camp for a later time in the year.

PLEASE NOTE - LUNCH IS NOT INCLUDED - Please provide your own packed morning tea, lunch, snacks and water please.

Is accommodation available for out-of-towners?

This is a non-residential camp and so participants will need to make their own arrangements for accomodation.

This sounds great, how do I register?
