Does TRYO accept new members?
Absolutely! New players are always welcome and are encouraged to sit in on a rehearsal to check out the fun at any time of the year. Let us know if you'd like to come to one of our rehearsals by getting in touch with us.
Is there an audition process?
There is no audition process for TRYO.
Instead we encourage interested players to sit in on a TRYO rehearsal and decide whether or not it's something they would be interested in. You can do this at any time, just contact us to arrange a suitable day.
What's the minimum age?
TRYO - ages 12 - 25

TRYO Jazz - recommended minimum age 14 (flexible depending on skill and maturity)

TRYBE (beginner ensemble) - minimum age of 8.
What level do I need to be?
TRYO - minimum Grade 3 AMEB level.
Players should aim to have a working knowledge of the keys ranging from 4# to 4flats.
We are currently playing band/orchestra level pieces that range between Levels 2-4.
Players interested in 1st positions (1st flute, 1st violin etc.) should be at AMEB Grade 5 or higher AMEB level.

TRYBE - minimum of at least 12 months tuition is recommended.
​
TRYO Jazz - equivalent Grade 4 AMEB (for brass, saxophone, bass guitar and drumkit)

When and where does TRYO rehearse?
All 3 ensembles rehearse Monday afternoons at the CLC Church, 10a Neil ST.

TRYBE - 3:30 - 4:15pm
TRYO - 4:30pm - 6:00pm
TRYO JAZZ - 6:15pm - 7:00pm
Are their costs involved?
Yes, a fee is required to be part of any of the ensembles as follows :

TRYO - $99/term per player.
TRYBE - $85/term per player.
TRYO Jazz - $85/term per player ($60 per term if a concurrent TRYO member)

Concert T-Shirt: Players are asked to purchase a custom TRYO or TRYBE shirt for performances. (approx. $37 and $25 respectively)
An optional TRYO Hoodie is also available for purchase for $75.
​
Other expenses include:
Concert tickets - all TRYO performances are ticketed and are purchased online.
(TRYBE concerts are free)
​
Accessories - All players need to provide their own music stand and a display folder for rehearsals and performances.
