Who can join the orchestra?

Here's some of the questions we often get ask by people interested in joining TRYO

Does TRYO accept new members?

Absolutely! New players are always welcome and are encouraged to sit in on a rehearsal to check out the fun at any time of the year. Let us know if you'd like to come to one of our rehearsals by getting in touch with us.

Is there an audition process?

There is no audition process for TRYO.

Instead we encourage interested players to sit in on a TRYO rehearsal and decide whether or not it's something they would be interested in. You can do this at any time, just contact us to arrange a suitable day.

What ages can be a part of TRYO?

Being a youth orchestra, we can accept players ranging from 10 years to 20+. We just recommend that the youngest players are at a playing level that can cope with the music we play.

What level should I be at to play in TRYO?

Players should have had at least 3 years of tuition on their instrument before joining and be comfortable sight-reading and playing Grade 2/3 AMEB level music.

Players should aim to have a working knowledge of the keys ranging from 4 sharps to 4 flats.

We are currently playing band/orchestra level pieces that range between Levels 2-4.

Players interested in 1st positions (1st flute, 1st violin etc.) should be approximately at Grade 4/5 AMEB level.
